Introduction

Welcome to the Blogspot of the 2013 Southern Hills Christian College service trip.  This year we will be partnering with Gary Visitacion of the Federation of Christian Athletes and Ikthus church and their project Ikthus redeemed Communities.  The students will be travelling to Bacolod, La Castenella and transiting Manila and Malaysia. The purpose of this trip is for upper secondary students to experience the culture of another country and assist in numerous areas where help is needed. Currently these areas involve teaching, building and food preparation and distribution to slum areas.

Whilst the majority of the trip will involve working in the above mentioned areas, there will be opportunities for the students to experience traditional work practices and personally experience life in a poor rural community. Other ministry areas include water purification projects and participating in a basketball/volleyball game at a local high school.

    Hey guys! So glad you're all safe. Also glad Mr Beacham's legs managed to stretch out during the flight. Enjoy your sleep coz you're gonna need it. Stay healthy and watch out for each other. Remember that a race is won, by pressing on and not giving up. We'll be praying for your safety and fulfilling of your mission. Enjoy this time and embrace all of the emotions that well up in you.     so happy you guys arrived safely, I might look really lame coz I literally liked every single picture that was posted on Facebook by the staff! you girls have written it so well.     Hello from the Year 4 students and Mrs Russell-Brown! We all pray for you and wish you well. We have just enjoyed looking through your photos and the students would like to know if you have taken any photos of Barney yet. They look for him in each photo.

    Hello from the year 6 class!
    We have just looked through your photos and read your Day 4 blog. Katie says hi to Elliot and Dad and Lilly says hi and Mahal kita to Emily. Bruce says please practice more at your volleyball and basketball. The year 6 class wishes you good luck for the rest of your trip. Can't wait to see you soon!
